1. Is the performance live and independently tracked?
Ask for live, third-party tracked results covering a meaningful period and number of trades. Treat backtests and screenshots as marketing, not evidence.
2. What is the risk, honestly?
Ask for average and maximum drawdown, how position size is set, and what the system does in fast markets. A provider who only talks about returns is telling you half the story.
3. Who holds the money?
Your capital should sit in a brokerage account in your own name. Be cautious of anyone who asks you to send funds to them directly.
4. What does it trade, and why?
A system built for a specific market usually beats a generic one that claims to trade everything. Ask why the strategy fits its market.
5. What does setup and support look like?
Who installs it, who monitors it, and who do you call if something looks wrong? Deployment and oversight matter as much as the strategy itself.
